Weedin’ [To the Tune of Rawhide]

Pullin’ pullin’ pullin’
Pullin’ pullin’ pullin’
Pullin’ pullin’ pullin’
Pullin’ pullin’ pullin’
Weedin’!

Keep mowin’ mowin’ mowin’
Though they just keep growin’
Keep them trimmers goin’. Weedin’!
Don’t try to ignore ’em
Just hoe and pull and pile ’em
Soon we’ll be eatin’ cukes and snap beans.
My family is salivatin’
For zucchini they are waitin’, all waitin’ for those greens.

overgrown gardenMow ’em now, pull ’em out,
Pull ’em out, Mow ’em down,
Mow ’em now, pull ’em all. Weedin’!
Hoe ’em out,  trim ’em short
Trim ’em short, slow ’em down,
Cut ’em out, trim ’em short. Weedin’!

Pullin’ pullin’ pullin’
Through the plants a cullin’
Keep them neighbors mullin’
Weedin’!
Rain and sun and water
Hell-bent to be a bother
Wishin’ I didn’t despise chemicals
All the ones I’m missin’
Will grow tall and I’ll listen
As the machete brings down them all.

Mow ’em now, pull ’em out,
Pull ’em out, Mow ’em down,
Mow ’em now, pull ’em all. Weedin’!
Hoe ’em out,  trim ’em short
Trim ’em short, slow ’em down,
Cut ’em out, trim ’em short. Weedin’!

About jheem

I grew up on a diversified dairy farm in southeast South Dakota where I learned how to throw a hay bale, pull a calf, deal with death, and "name" the cows. I was in 4H and FFA, and was privileged to serve as a state FFA officer. In college, I studied animal science, focusing on beef cows, mostly because I figured they were less work than dairy cows....I ended up with a Masters Degree in ruminant nutrition and went to work for the University of Nebraska, first as a research tech coordinating data collection for a swine unit and beef feedlot on a research farm and then as an extension educator. In my current job, I focus on environmental issues related to animal agriculture (which is a nice way of saying I talk about manure alot). My husband and I live and work on a seedstock cattle operation in northeast Nebraska. You can learn more about our cattle operation by visiting my husband's blog at http://aldersonangus.wordpress.com.

Ha ha ha… Great song and I prefer your lyrics… Sing-along!

This was great! We got hailed out last month, and besides the “big” crops being wiped out, the veggies and flowers also met their demise. But not those darned weeds! Heading out now to mow ’em down with this song as my inspiration.

That is a big bummer that you lost crops and garden and flowers. Weeding sounds much easier to just take the mower out. Hmmmm……
Glad you liked the tune 🙂
