The Hunt for Baby Kittens

May 26, 2012

On a farm, there is no force of nature more determined than a child searching for a new litter of kittens. One son ran into the … More The Hunt for Baby Kittens

Photo Friday May 18, 2012 “Windy Day”

May 18, 2012

I have heard people tell stories about pioneers here on the Great Plains that went insane because of the wind. After a day like today, I totally understand how that can happen. Today’s photo Friday is a video of the wind blowing our trees and dust from the neighbor’s field.

Photo Friday 4-27-12 “Hot Air Balloons”

April 27, 2012

This picture shows my cousin and some of his friends setting up their hot air balloons. This photo was taken on the day of his mother’s (my aunt’s) funeral. It was very peaceful watching the balloons float into the air. I can only imagine the conversation he was having with his Mom during his flight.

April 24, 2012

A yawn and a stretch is a great way to start each day. Eventually, if you get hungry enough, you will eat from the same dish as the common kitties. Curling up next to a warm car engine might seem like a good idea at the time It is good to tackle large projects but, … More All I Really Needed to Know, I Learned from a Farm Cat

Photo Friday April 20, 2012 “Frozen Grasshopper”

April 20, 2012

After an ice storm at our farm, I was out taking pictures of the beautiful (although messy) scene. While looking at one of our trees, I noticed this frozen grasshopper stuck in the ice.

Diary of a Farm Puppy

April 16, 2012

A week ago, we adopted a puppy to replace our old dog who passed away. I was nervous about having a puppy, but she has been exceptionally good…so far. Read below to check out what she thinks of her new home. Monday 4 p.m. Playing with Mom and sister. A strange car drives up and … More Diary of a Farm Puppy

Photo Friday April 6, 2012

April 7, 2012

My sons and I visited Washington, D.C. recently. We were lucky enough to visit the Vietnam War Memorial right at sunset and during a time when there were few people at the memorial. I have visited the wall many times, but never appreciated the reflective nature of the granite until I got to view it … More Photo Friday April 6, 2012
